When we shift our gaze from the visible to the invisible, our faith begins to grow, for what we see is the overwhelming support we have from God. Perceptions are powerful influencers of our attitudes and emotions. We must take them under our wise management if they are to benefit us. To some extent we see what we choose to see. I’m not suggesting that we deny or distort reality. It’s good to have our eyes open and to become observant people. But being observant is one thing, dwelling on the problems and seeming ‘impossibilities’ is another! We must remember that the visible realm, observed through the physical senses, is only a part of the picture. Whatever things might look like outwardly, the reality for those who love God and seek to walk with Him is just as the prophet Isaiah describes, when he says, “Your builders outstrip your destroyers, and those who laid you waste go forth from you” (Isaiah 49:17). When the way is hard and the light is dim, I choose to thank God for the good things that He will bring out of it!
