Faith Changes the Way We See the World

To successfully walk in faith, we must make the visible less visible, and we must make the invisible more visible. It is not that we become any less observant, where visible things are concerned. Far from it. It is good to walk with our physical eyes open. But we can be overly focused on the visible, and we can be under-focused on the invisible. Learning to walk by faith involves a gradual change of emphasis in the way we look at the world. We are learning to ‘walk by faith and not by sight’ (2 Corinthians 5:7). Each new experience presents us with an opportunity to practice this. Instead of simply relying on data from our physical senses, and the use of our reason, let us turn to Jesus, the author and finisher of faith (Hebrews 12:2) and hear what He has to say about it. Faith will arise in our hearts as we do, and we will find ourselves being directed by Heaven. The word of the Lord to us, both spoken and written, is our spiritual food.
