Today's Early Church Wisdom
“If anyone be a soldier or in authority, let him be taught not to oppress or to kill or to rob, or to be angry or to rage and afflict anyone. But let those rations suffice him which are given to him. But if they wish to be baptised in the Lord, let them cease from military service or from the [post of] authority, and if not let them not be received. Let a catechumen or a believer of the people, if he desire to be a soldier, either cease from his intention, or if not let him be rejected. For he hath despised God by his thought, and leaving the things of the Spirit, he hath perfected himself in the flesh and hath treated the faith with contempt.”
~ The Testament of Our Lord (4th or 5th Century AD)
This week's Psalm is Psalm 31 'My Rock, My Shield, My Song'

Trust That Your Steps Are Sure

Any climber or mountaineer knows that each move matters. Every step of the climb must be carefully executed. Sometimes life is like that. Our path which perhaps was once a little easier, now becomes more challenging, and there may be time when we are uncertain as to how we should proceed. Whether on a mountain or simply the road of life, our foot can slip, and this could prove injurious, or even fatal. God knows the real challenge of navigating life successfully, which is why the Psalmist says, “He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber” (Psalm 121:3). Not only does God guard the steps of those who love Him and diligently seek Him – He does this 24/7. Thanks to His constant love, we can trust that our steps are sure. Let Him show you where to tread and all will be well. He knows the way, and His way for you is sure, conceived in eternity past, and playing out now, as you daily look and listen to Him.
