Have you ever been concerned about paying a bill? Most of us have at one time or another. Concern over such things is normal and can be helpful, if it leads to prayer and constructive action. Even the apostle Paul wrote that he was concerned (‘merimna’ Gk.) over the state of the churches. But where do we go first, when we have a need? Some dive deeper and deeper into a form of worry that achieves nothing, but rather drags them down, perhaps even into depression and despair. Others have learnt that the best thing they can do is to go to God and listen for His word of encouragement and direction. God does not always supply what we want, but He will always supply what He knows we need, and we should trust Him in that. This does not mean that there will not sometimes be delays. Our enemy, the devil, is a hinderer, and he will do his best to oppose and thwart the work of God and the lives of the faithful. But God will always make a way for us, whilst we still have work to do on earth. Therefore, we can encourage one another with Paul’s words, saying, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). As you think of the day ahead and wonder how it will be tomorrow, trust God’s supply.
