Yesterday we looked at the nature of faith, distinguishing between true faith and mere ‘mental assent’. Today we’ll look briefly at three
proofs of faith. The first is an inner knowing or conviction. This comes from hearing the word of God. As we daily walk and talk with Jesus, our faith will grow strong, and we will become convinced about certain things. The second proof is in the form of actions that reflect or demonstrate our faith. James says that “faith without works is dead” (James 2:20). If you believe it, act on it. Usually, it’s of little use just having faith. We need to do something in line with our faith. David had to step out and face Goliath, Peter had to step out of the boat, Moses had to step into the water of the Sea of Reeds. Thirdly,
there is the proof of an undeniable outcome. When I say ‘undeniable’ I don’t mean that everyone will accept it! But I do mean that it will be evidently true to any honest observer. When John Lake saw miracles of healing, he had X-rays and other tests made so that they could be fully documented as authentic. Hang out with Jesus and you will know by faith, act in faith, and see the fruit of faith!
