How deep is our faith? It’s been said that the journey from the head to the heart is the longest journey of all. We can accept that something is true, but this surface level of faith may fail to hold in the storms of life. It’s what has been termed ‘mental assent’ and it describes the situation where we are presented with a proposition and we decide to accept it as being true. There is a second, deeper form of belief, which is faith at the
level of spiritual conviction. In this case we have proved to ourselves that a thing is true, and we experience an inner knowing or conviction that it is so. How do you move from mental assent to a deep, inner conviction? It is a simple path that even a child may choose to take. We choose to picture Jesus with us daily, we daily to what He says to us personally, and we follow His guidance. What could be simpler? Through the use of our Spirit-filled imagination, we will hear God’s word, and our faith will deepen and grow.
