Seeking God

Luxury or necessity?

From even the most cursory reading of Scripture you would think that most Christians would recognise the centrality of seeking God.
Whilst many do, sadly it must be said that there are also many who do not. Why is this? In my experience, this is generally due to one or more of the following. Either (1) they are ignorant of what the Bible teaches; or (2) they have not chosen to walk and talk with Jesus daily; or (3) they have not been encouraged or taught to do this by the church they attend. Surprisingly, it would seem as though some view seeking God as more of a luxury than a necessity, the sort of thing one might do as a kind of hobby, once one has done everything else one needs to do. Needless to say, such a view, like those who hold it, could not be further from the truth. Where is seeking God on our priority list? Remember that Jesus didn’t say that this should be one of the things on that list. He said that it was the one thing that was needed! (Luke 10:42).
