As evangelists, we must be ready to present an argument for faith in Christ. If people are interested in what we are saying when we share the good news of salvation, they will want to understand it, and this will often mean that they will ask questions. We will then find ourselves in the position of needing to explain our faith. Let’s be clear that we don’t have to become expert theologians to do this, but we do need to have a basic understanding of the atonement. Maybe take a moment today to refresh your understanding so that when you have an opportunity to share the Christian faith, you will be ready. Secondly, we don’t need to become expert in debates. I am concerned that at this point, some readers may be thinking, “Oh dear, I’m no good at persuading people, so this is not for me.” If that’s how you feel, please keep reading, because the kind of persuasion I will talk about over the next few days is not like that, and it certainly does not depend on any debating or persuasive skill on our part. If you have received Jesus as your Saviour, and have even the simplest grasp of the atonement, you are ready to begin arguing for your faith. Stay ready today. You never know when the opportunity to share will come.
