What part can we play in revival? Most of us are unable to generate the electricity required to power our homes, but we can ensure that our homes are connected to the grid, and that we pay our electricity bills to avoid being cut off! The power of God, though infinitely greater than any earthly energy, is similar in that we cannot generate it, but we can connect with it. There was a big bill to pay before we could ever connect with this power, and it was the price of sin. But God so loved us that He gave His beloved Son to pay that price through His atoning death upon the Cross (John 3:16). This made possible the great outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost following Jesus’ ascension into Heaven (Acts 2). The message of Pentecost is that God has made His revival power available now! The supply has been put in place and now awaits the consumer. Will we be those who come and receive, or will we walk on by, choosing to live in human strength alone?
