If a plentiful supply of a valuable commodity has been made freely available, without charge to the consumer, and there are no distribution issues, it remains for people to connect. This is certainly the case in relation to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which should never be thought of as a single event, but which signifies the beginning of a perpetual floodtide of power from Heaven. At Pentecost this river of life was released to flow on earth as never before, and all those who wished to could come and freely receive. As they do, they become part of an ongoing revival, in which they may drink as deeply as they wish from the fountain of life. When men and women stop doing things in their own strength, choosing instead to open their hearts and lives to God’s Spirit, revival always flows! Revival is something God does, something that simply does not exist apart from Him. It begins in the hearts of men and women and continue for as long as their hearts are open.
