I think most of us would agree that it’s pretty good to be a conqueror, but what does it look like to be more than a conqueror? Astonishingly, these are the words that the apostle Paul uses to describe our victory in Jesus as we face challenges, trials, tribulations, and distress! He says, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37). That’s a bold claim, but it is substantiated by the experience of committed believers through all the centuries. The darker the situation, the brighter shines the glorious light of Heaven! In many situations, it certainly won’t look like you are more than a conqueror, at least not to the physical eye, but that is exactly what you are according to God, who sees all things and fully knows the truth. If our spiritual eyes were to be opened at such times, we would see things very differently. What we can do, is change our minds in relation to ourselves, so that instead of seeing ourselves as defeated, we see ourselves as conquerors. We have a choice, either to take the evidence of our physical eyes or the evidence of our spiritual eyes; to walk either by sight or by faith. What will we choose today?
