Looking Towards The Resurrection

The day the dead get their bodies back

Jesus spoke about the resurrection, a coming event that should be important to us all. A time is coming when God will raise all dead bodies from the grave (John 5:28,29; 1 Corinthians 15:20-23; Revelation 20:4-15). He said, “Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth - those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation” (John 5:28,29). Physical death is not the end. It’s important to remember that only bodies die at physical death (James 2:26). The spirit and the soul continue to live. Consequently, it’s only bodies that will be resurrected. All the scriptures that describe the future resurrection of the dead refer to the bodies that sleep in the graves, not to the souls and spirits which are immortal and do not sleep in the graves (1 Peter 3:4). But what many do not realise is that there’s a big difference between the state of the righteous and the wicked dead prior to the resurrection. The righteous are happy and in a conscious state in heaven (Ephesians 4:8; Philippians 1:21-24; 2 Corinthians 5:8; Revelation 6:9-11; Hebrews 12:22,23), but the wicked are conscious in Hades, separated from God (Luke 16:19-31; Isaiah 14:9; Revelation 20:11-15). Do you know where you are going when your body dies? If not, you can be at peace on this today. Simply go to the Home page and pray the Sinner’s Prayer to receive Christ as your friend and Saviour.
