The population of the millennial earth will consist of two types of people: the resurrected saints and those who have survived the Great Tribulation. The former will live forever in their resurrection bodies, whilst the latter and their children are natural people who will sin. Those are the people Jesus, and we, will judge. Paul writes, “Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?” (1 Corinthians 6:2). Isaiah gives us an informative picture of millennium life. He writes, “They shall build houses and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not build and another inhabit; They shall not plant and another eat; For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people, and My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth children for trouble; For they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them.” (Isaiah 65:21-23). It’s clear from this that there will be construction. God loves architecture. He builds gardens and tabernacles and temples and even compares us Christians to a spiritual house being built by Him. The nations will need places to live, and they will build houses and cities. Note also that there will be agriculture. People will need to eat and will plant and grow food. Finally, there will be work. Retirement is not an option. God created us to serve, to rule, and to love. Work will be a joy.
