Sometimes certain sinful people seem to have it so good, and we may be tempted to envy their prosperity or success. But wise Solomon tells us not to do that. Why? Because this life is not all there is. In fact, compared to the eternity that lies beyond, it’s but a speck in time, a fleeting moment. He says, “Do not let your heart envy sinners but be zealous for the fear of the Lord all the day; For surely there is a hereafter, and your hope will not be cut off” (Proverbs 23:171-18). For those who are zealous for the Lord, daily walking and talking with Him, the most prosperous and successful eternity awaits, but for those who take the brief rewards of sin, there is only spiritual poverty and destitution beyond the grave. We have a hope that cannot be taken away, whist they have present advantages they cannot keep. It is a strange irony that some, understanding the principles of wise investment, make money on earth that they cannot keep, but fail to see the greater value of investing in the lasting rewards of Heaven! Revive your sure hope of a great future.
