Give God Your Future

It’s good to look ahead and plan, but the way we approach this makes all the difference between eternal success and failure. We need to remember that a tomorrow planned by God is infinitely superior to a tomorrow planned our way. This means listening to Him – a daily discipline of practising His presence and hearing His personal word to us; and trusting Him. If we truly trust, we will leave tomorrow in His hands. Rather than assuming it will be a certain way, we trust God for the best outcomes in His sight. The apostle James puts it like this: ‘Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that”’ (James 4:13-15). Let us approach tomorrow with the attitude, "If the Lord wills." His best is better than ours!
