Today's Early Church Wisdom
“We who formerly treasured money and possessions more than anything else now hand over everything we have to a treasury for all and share it with everyone who needs it. We who formerly hated and murdered one another now live together and share the same table. We pray for our enemies and try to win those who hate us.”
~ Justin the Martyr (100AD – 165AD)
This week's Psalm is Psalm 30 'Joy Comes With The Morning'

Don’t Worry About Tomorrow

There are two extreme and opposing attitudes that people often adopt in relation to tomorrow. One is to boast (we looked at that yesterday) and the other is to fear. Both positions are unsupported by God. They are each the natural consequence of a life lived without personal communion with Him. With regard to the latter, I am not suggesting that to walk with God entirely eliminates anxiety (I wish it did!), but I am certainly maintaining that our peace is restored, our confidence is strengthened, and our fears are assuaged as we draw close to Him. Jesus encourages us both to live in the now, and to live that moment with Him. He says, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34). It is not wrong to wrestle with the concerns of life, but it is a mistake to wrestle on our own, especially when Divine help and guidance are at hand! Let us take the concerns of today to the One who has given us today, and He will make a way, for as Jesus reminds us, each day has enough trouble of its own. Trust God for tomorrow today.
