Many of us will face financial struggles in life. Some will be more fortunate, others less. A relatively small number will receive great wealth and riches, and a larger number will face years of desperate poverty. The rich will need no word of comfort for their finances, but the poor, and those who are struggling financially, in many cases are crying out from their heart for guidance and help. What word of comfort might we possibly bring them? We may be sure that there can be nothing better in this respect than the word of God. What does His word say to this pressing issue that blights the lives of so many? Well, it is clear from Christian scripture that the first step to take is always that of coming to Him. Jesus makes a clear promise to anyone who takes this step of coming into relationship with Him. He says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things [all financial and material needs, including food and clothing] will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). Have you taken that step? If not, take it now! If you once took that step, re-affirm you love for Him today, practice His presence with you, and seek His face, listening to His every word as He guides you in the financial and material affairs of this life.
