Draw Near

Disciplined commitment

Life on earth has always had its demands and pressures, and these are no less real today. Technological advances have dramatically increased the pace of life and improved certain aspects of the quality of life for some. But life’s challenges remain, and if we are to make spiritual progress and fulfil the earthly mission that God has given us, we will need to be serious about maintaining our daily walk with Jesus. A determined commitment to seeking God daily is required, both at the start of the day and throughout it, as we engage in the affairs of life. God’s guidance can come in many different forms, and there is no suggestion that we will all hear from God in identical ways, but one thing is clear: “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8). Draw near! Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, draw near! Don’t wait for God to speak to you or appear before you. You may wait forever! Practice His presence with you and imagine Him speaking with you. Do this each day, when you awake, and as you deal with the day’s events. Include Jesus in your life and you will soon see a big difference in how things go for you. That’s what they did at the beginning and it’s as necessary now as it was then.
