I want to share very briefly about one of the most remarkable characteristics of the first Christian church at Jerusalem: chatting with Jesus. Yes, it’s as simple as that. The first believers lived in ongoing friendship and fellowship with Him, even after His death and resurrection. Jesus’ disciples didn’t just talk with Him when He was alive and with them bodily. They continued to be led by Jesus following His triumphant resurrection from the grave and ascension into Heaven. The grave could not hold Him, for Jesus was not merely a man, but the Eternal Word and Son of God, the second person of the Trinity. He rose victorious from the grave and appeared to His disciples over the next 40 days before ascending into Heaven, during which time they chatted regularly with Him. The Father then poured out the Holy Spirit, that Jesus’ followers might continue to walk and talk with Him throughout the church age. Chatting with Jesus daily is a habit that any of us may develop. What could be better than sharing your day with Him?
