Anxiety can affect us in many ways. As an emotion it can cause us to feel concerned, worried, fearful, or scared. It can affect our motivation, perhaps reducing our drive to do certain things. It also influences how we think about things, shaping our thinking and being shaped by it. Anxious thinking feeds and grows anxiety. When we’re anxious our attention narrows making us more likely to miss helpful or important stimuli. Ultimately, anxiety is something we feel with our spirit and tends to increase when God’s word is not received in our heart. Because we are spiritual beings, there can be no full healing of anxiety without regeneration of our spirit. This takes place whenever we turn to God, put our faith and trust in Him, and choose to walk and talk with Him daily. The result of this new lifestyle is that anxiety is progressively replaced by perfect peace in the mind that is now focussed on God (Isaiah 26:3) and loves His word (Psalm 119:165). The ultimate solution to anxiety is spiritual and found only in a living personal relationship with God. Peace is a person and His name is Jesus. Is this your day to come to Him?
