Faith turns hope into reality. Things we hope for are unseen – by definition. We would not hope for them if we already had them. It’s good to hope, but many die with their hopes unrealised. One of the reasons for this is that they never converted their hope into faith. If I return from a trip away and do not convert my foreign currency, the money will be of no use to me. It is the same with hope. When hope is converted into faith, it acquires substance – it becomes reality. This is the message of Hebrews 11:1 - “Now faith is the substance [realisation] of things hoped for, the evidence [confidence] of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). What are you hoping for? Bring it before God, asking Him to show you whether this is a godly hope that you should turn into faith, and if He says, “Yes!”, do not hesitate, but start to believe today, and, sooner or later you will see your mountain moved. Nothing can resist the power of God, but like all forces, it must be released, and faith is the key to that. To have faith is simply to agree with God on any given matter. It is therefore a good idea to take your hopes to God and let Him speak to you concerning them. The word He speaks to you will generate faith in your heart for that matter, and this is where you should take your stand. There may be many opposing forces that try to shake your position, but stand firm, remembering that it is by faith and patience that we inherit God’s promise (Hebrews 6:12).
