Jesus said, “And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. 38 But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe” (John 5:37,38). The Father testified to Christ through various means, including an audible voice at Jesus' baptism and transfiguration, the miraculous works He empowered Jesus to do, and the prophetic Scriptures that foretold His coming. By witnessing through these different avenues, the Father provided corroborating evidence that authenticated Jesus as His Son and the promised Messiah. At Jesus’ baptism the Father's voice declared, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Matthew 3:17). At the transfiguration the voice from the cloud repeated the affirmation, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him!" (Matthew 17:5).
