In the Book of Psalms, King David says, “O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You” (Psalm 63:1). The prophet Isaiah says the same: ““Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance” (Isaiah 55:1,2). Each knew that it is only through this deepest, fullest, richest, and most blessed connection, that the deepest needs of our soul can be met. This same oneness is a life that glorifies God. It stands in stark contrast to a life separated from Him. For example, a life of commitment to self is a life that glorifies self. Similarly, a life of commitment to sin is a life that glorifies sin. But a life of commitment to God is a life that glorifies Him. What do you seek most in your life? Jesus said, “I seek not Mine own glory” (Jn.8:50,54). He stayed close to His Father and His Father was glorified. If we’ll stay close to Jesus, God will be glorified in our life, and one day we will hear those precious words, “‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord’” (Matthew 25:21). May our prayer be the prayer of David: “Early will I seek You!”
