The Commission of The Church

I believe it’s fair to say that Jesus’ followers were drawn by love, a love that had its source in the Father’s heart. Jesus promised that if He was ‘lifted up’ (He was referring to the Cross) He would draw men and women to Himself. But is it possible to block or to inhibit this work of Jesus in drawing people to Himself? What kind of people should we be, if we are to be used by God in drawing others to faith? What kind of churches should we build, if these churches are to be used by God in drawing men and women to faith? Imagine a group of believers where the members choose to do things their way rather than His? The likely result will be that people are not drawn, at least not by Jesus. Let us endeavour to so look to Jesus that He may guide us, personally and collectively in the day-to-day fulfilment of His Great Commission.
