In a world where many feel alienated, unappreciated, under-valued, and alone, it’s hardly surprising that people long for a deeper connection with another. I believe it has always been so, and that the roots of our need to connect go back a very long way.
God made humanity with a deep hunger for connection, and He placed them in a beautiful setting where that need was fully met. But something went terribly wrong when sin and death invaded the idyll of Eden, and ever since that time, people have wrestled with their inner needs, on way or another. That blissful state enjoyed by the first people is not how things are now. Something’s gone seriously wrong, for although we are made by God, in His image, we face all kinds of problems and issues when we seek to connect with others. Why is this? The simple answer is that we’ve become disconnected with God, our Source. We were made by God, and because we were designed for relationship with God, we will never be able to find lasting joy and peace apart from Him.
