When Jesus spoke to Satan, saying “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve’” (Matthew 4:10), as the Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible notes, He stood “on the rock of Scripture,” exposing the enemy’s counterfeit kingdom with the authority of divine truth. This teaching is profoundly urgent in these present end times, when countless voices compete for worship through power, pleasure, ideology, greed, distraction, and self-exaltation. What we fear, obey, trust, and prioritise often becomes, in practice, what we worship. Daily walking and talking with God therefore becomes not an optional religious exercise but the lifeline of faithful endurance.
