The apostle John describes how it was when John the Baptist introduces his disciples to Jesus. We read of how, “One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him [Jesus], was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ).” This is how it was for the first disciples. Just as Andrew, after spending time with Jesus, immediately went and found his brother Simon and said, “We have found the Messiah!” (Εὑρήκαμεν τὸν Μεσσίαν), so we too, having encountered Christ, are changed and empowered to share that good news with others. Have you noticed how people are generally keen to share their discoveries with others? You hear them sharing about the bargain they’ve just found, or the new restaurant they’ve just eaten at, or the latest gossip at their work, or in the street where they live. It’s human nature to share our excitement with others. But when did we last share our own personal encounter with Jesus?
