People understand that there are usually problems to be faced on any path towards prosperity. Life is challenging, and we know that success comes at a price. What is lesser known is that the greatest price of all has been paid – the price of human sin, and that for all those who receive Him, Jesus will make a way in this life and grant them joy for all eternity. Difficulties, problems, and opposition will surely come, but God’s grace is greater than them all. Jesus said, "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 5:10). This saying is hard. Jesus refers to Diōgmenoi heneken dikaiosynēs (διωγμένοι ἕνεκεν δικαιοσύνης), those who are chased, harassed, mistreated because they live for what is right. Jesus knew that His followers would face rejection. But He promised: you are not forgotten. Yours is, present tense, the kingdom of heaven. He even adds in verses 11–12 that when people insult and falsely accuse you for His sake, you can rejoice! Why? Because you’re in good company. That’s how they treated the prophets. And great is your reward in heaven. You know that you are spiritually prosperous when you face undeserved opposition.
