Because God has planned our path, we will be directed by Heaven as to the steps we should take, but only if we will be diligent in listening to Him. We all need guidance, given the great complexity and uncertainty of life. The prophet Isaiah says, “And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail” (Isaiah 58:11, ESV). Jesus says, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come” (John 16:13, ESV). How desperately do we need the daily guidance of God! Let us not imagine for a moment that it is safe to enter a day without first taking time to talk with Jesus.
