Our world has always contained false messages. It started in the Garden of Eden when Satan lied to the first people, and it has been with us ever since. Today we hear such messages on every side. Some are blatantly false, whilst others are more subtle, mixing truth with falsehood in clever cocktails of deceit. In such a world, people are thirsty for truth and looking for people and sources they can trust to be credible and honest. As evangelists (that’s all of us), what we say should be credible. Many of us like to think that we are credible, but it does no harm to test this out. Perhaps take a moment today in private to imagine you are talking with a non-believer. Talk aloud to them as if they were there with you and listen critically to your own words. Do you sound credible? Be honest, and if you pick up some ‘phony-ness’ or lack of credibility, do something to correct it, before you get out there talking to real people.
