The energy pulsing at the heart of the Trinity is other-centred. I am confident that if you pray and listen to God, as I hope you do, you will never hear an argument in heaven! And it was out of this ‘other-centred’ relationship that men and women were created. What are you made of? Dust and love! You may not have realised it, but you are made of love. The most beautiful things happen when love takes dust in its hands. Trappist monk Thomas Merton puts it better than I when he says: “To say that I am made in the image of God is to say that love is the reason for my existence, for God is love. Love is my true identity. Selflessness is my true self. Love is my true character. Love is my name” (name. (Merton, 2007). Let’s be clear that Adam and Eve were made of love, they were made by Love, they were made to love, and they were made to be loved. Consequently, they related perfectly to God, they related perfectly to one another, and they related perfectly to their environment. They were not conscious of any need but were whole, complete, fulfilled, happy, joyful, content. Sadly, this first idyllic life was destroyed by sin, but the Love that had created it could not be overcome, and that Love is waiting to connect with you today. The same love that made and blessed the first humans reaches out to us through the Cross of Christ. For it was at the Cross that love made a way for us to be reconciled with God. God desires inner peace, love, and happiness for you, and He will not rest until it is your experience.
