A New Day

A new day for the church is dawning in our time. It’s only just begun, so there’s not much that’s visible at this stage. But let us be assured that God has not forgotten His church but rather is moving forward His plan to bring her to a place where she is all that she can be, white and spotless, glorious and entirely without blemish, like a beautiful bride prepared for her husband. I am of course talking about the invisible church, the global company of all those who are truly born again and who eagerly await the second coming of Christ. I want to talk about this church, as she is in the process of becoming ever more lovely. In our day there seems to be a fresh wind of the Spirit blowing through the nations, drawing Christians back to the kind of fellowship that characterised the earliest days of the church. I’m referring to the fact that the first church, established by Yeshua at Jerusalem in the first century, had certain characteristics which, though not entirely lost in the church of our day, have been in danger of being blunted, devalued, or supplanted by mere human conceptions of what it means to be the Ekklesia of Christ. This fellowship, the First Church of Jerusalem, is part of a much wider movement of those who pray for Christian renewal and a rediscovery of our roots, the foundations of the ekklesia laid by Christ Himself.
