The principle Jesus taught in His response to Satan, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God’” (Matthew 4:7) remains vital not only for today but for tomorrow, because the temptation to force certainty, demand signs, or shortcut suffering persists in every generation, especially in these “end times,” when anxiety can drive people toward extremes of presumption or despair. Christ’s answer anchors the believer in a different posture: not testing God to secure faith, but exercising faith that refuses to test God, embodying what might be called active trust, a lived confidence that God is faithful without needing to be coerced into proving it. Let us seek to enter His rest, which is the rest of faith, surely trusting in our Father’s loving care for us, His precious children. The fruit of faith will surely be seen.
