The second thing that’s required is to daily walk and talk with Him, or to put it another way, to ‘abide’ in Him. On the night before He went to the Cross, Jesus said to His disciples, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:4,5). What did He mean by “Abide in Me?” … He’s clearly talking about relationship, and it’s as though He’s saying, “Stick with Me,” “Stay close to Me,” “Remain with Me.” It is natural to want to stay close to those we love. Jesus’ words tell us a great deal about His feelings for us! Let us be those who feel the same way about Him.
