Seeking God Together

Radical Christianity

The first believers not only walked and talked with Jesus in their personal life but also had the wisdom and courage to listen to Him together with others. Jesus was the active leader of the first church, because they listened. By setting up His church to function in this way, Jesus set the pattern for the Christian church throughout the centuries that would follow up to His return. That pattern is still available today for all those who would follow it. Let us choose it, that at the end we may be found “good and faithful servants” (Matthew 25:21). The first church sought Jesus individually and together, as they met in fellowship and worship. No meeting was without time spent looking and listening to Jesus. Jesus still leads today, but are we listening? As far as I am aware, it is uncommon in our day for church meetings to begin with time spent seeking God. How sad is this, for where there is no prayer of listening to God, there is little or no hearing from God, and men and women go their own way.
