There is a rest of faith. The writer to the Hebrews says, “Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them [God’s historic people]; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. (Hebrews 4:1-2). He is saying that there is a rest that is the product of faith. When we believe that settles the matter, and we may cease from actively worrying about it. The situation may still be scary, but now we face it with a supernatural peace in our heart. This peace is described as ‘His rest’. It’s the rest of God, the same rest that we see in Jesus when He slept during the life-threatening storm that He and His disciples encountered on the Sea of Galilee (Matthew 4:35-38). Choos faith, and rest will follow!
