Brothers and sisters today is a new day with new opportunities. If you are a disciple of Jesus Christ, today is a day for planting fresh seeds of love and faith in the lives of others. Perhaps you may feel that what you have to give is ever so small, but do not be dismayed, for God grows the greatest things from the smallest seeds. Jesus said, “‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.’" Matthew 13:31,32 (Mark 4:30–32, Luke 13:18–19). Think of Jesus Himself - born in a manger, raised in a backwater town, followed by fishermen and outcasts. In earthly terms He was insignificant. But His life — His love, His death, and His resurrection — became the seed that changed the world. Remember: God grows the seed! Jesus says in His parable that the man planted the seed, but it is God who gives the growth. And when this seed grows, it becomes greater than anyone could expect. What starts in weakness becomes strong. What begins in secret becomes visible to all. So, take heart if you feel small right now. God will grow whatever you give to Him. Remember how a small boy gave his meagre lunch to Jesus one day, and He multiplied it to feed 5000 people! The mustard seed doesn’t stay small. The power of the kingdom is not in appearance, but in what God is doing in the soil of your soul. And that means that what you do today, in obedience to God, as you walk and talk with Jesus, has the power to grow far beyond what you can see or imagine.
