I want to talk today about the good plan God has for us as we journey through this life. When I use the word ‘good’ I do not mean that God will give us a problem-free life. On the contrary! Life in a world of death and decay will always have many problems, difficulties, and challenges. But there is a grace from God that transcends all of life and death. The prophet Jeremiah says, “I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23, ESV). In other words, it is for God to direct our steps through this ‘barren land’ of life on earth. But how does He do that? He does it as we do our best to seek Him and actively follow His plan. The guidance of God is both complex and simple. It’s complex in that it can take a great many forms and operate through both causal and acausal systems. But it’s also simple, in that at its heart it merely involves listening, trusting, and obeying.
