One of the central messages of the first church is that houses matter more than we may think. The active presence of love in a house makes that house a home. And if, like the first followers of Jesus, we open our home to our brothers and sisters in Christ, sharing in bread and wine together, that home becomes a church. Wherever we may have chosen to live, let us remember that as Christians our homes are not just dwelling places. They are embassies of Heaven. An embassy is a little piece of one nation on another nation’s soil. Whether they know it or not, those who enter our home are standing on holy ground, and our home is a place where they may be drawn a little closer to God. As His ambassadors, we are ready to reach out and touch the lives of others with the love of God and the Good News of the Gospel.
